Kennesaw State University’s Soccer Stadium played host to over 9,000 fans this past Friday through Sunday for the NCAA Division 1 Women’s College Cup. The first national championship event ever hosted by the school and the second soccer NCAA title determined in Georgia drew praise from coaches, players and NCAA officials. “The venue is unbelievable,” said Duke Coach Robbie Church.

The field is the largest women’s soccer stadium in the world and home to the Atlanta Beat and Kennesaw State University.  The field went unused for six weeks to prep it for the tournament.

Teresa Noyola, Stanford midfielder, commented on the field that it was probably the best field she’d seen in the U.S. She is also a member of the Mexican National team. Cami Levin and Teresa Noyola, Stanford players, scored the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute. Stanford took home the Cup after four years of being semi-finalists.

KSU has bid for the 2013 College Cup, soccer's version of the Final Four. Auburn senior associate athletic director Meredith Jenkins, Chair of the Division I Women's Soccer Committee, said she couldn't find a single thing that was overlooked or needed improvement. "Certainly, (with) everything they’ve done here, they would be very deserving of hosting another College Cup," Jenkins said.
