Whitesburg, GA – Sports Turf Company, Inc., located in West Georgia, is pleased to announce that Todd Wiggins has achieved the rank of Certified Field Builder in the American Sports Builders Association’s (ASBA) program of certification.
ASBA, of which Sports Turf Company is a member, is the national organization for builders, designers and suppliers of materials for athletic facilities.
Certification is a voluntary program that tests core competencies in the construction of specific types of athletic facilities. In order to be eligible, individuals have to provide documented proof of their experience in the association, and then pass a comprehensive exam in all aspects of sports field facility construction. In order to maintain certification, individuals are required to show proof of activity in the industry every three years, including listing work done on various projects – and are additionally required to perform volunteer work that benefits the industry such as speaking at meetings, writing technical articles and so forth.
Todd Wiggins grew up in Southeast Georgia and graduated from Swainsboro High School. He went to the University of Georgia and graduated with a degree in Turfgrass Management. Todd worked at the City of Roswell in the Parks and Recreation Department before joining Sports Turf Company in 2006 as a Superintendent overseeing construction jobs. In 2008, Todd moved into the office to assist in marketing and sales. Today, Todd is the Director of Project Development and works with architects and owners to make their dreams a reality. In 2010, Todd passed the exam to become a Certified Track Builder.
Sports Turf Company began constructing and renovating athletic fields in 1991. By pioneering the use of laser technology, STC became a recognized industry leader. In 2004, Sports Track was incorporated giving Sports Turf the ability to construct and renovate tracks and tennis courts. Today, Sports Turf Company has completed over 600 athletic facilities throughout the Southeastern United States.
